Alamo Car Rental is Offering Garmin GPS Systems
Alamo Car Rental has announced they will begin offering Garmin StreetPilot c330 systems as an option with car rentals. The units will be available at approximately 150 locations throughout North America, and will be available by reservation. That’s a huge deal, as most rental companies offer GPS rental on a first come first serve basis. Alamo’s counterpart, National Car Rental, has been offering GPS systems for ages.
The system will set you back $10.99 per day, which is comparable with other rental companies. I can tell you from experience, a GPS can be the greatest thing to ever happen to you in a strange city. I would probably still be driving around downtown Chicago trying to find my way to Mount Prospect if I didn’t rent one for each trip to the area. The StreetPilot features pre-loaded maps for North America, a 3.5-inch QVGA color display, multiple text and voice languages, 3D map presentation and dual speakers.
Now they just need to start offering I-Pass or EZ Pass units to keep up with Hertz.
