Austin City Limits Music Festival – September 14 – 16, 2007
It’s time for the Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL). This year’s festival is coming up from September 14 to 16, 2007 at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The lineup is, as always, phenomenal and I’m working on a way to head down and impose on my friends that weekend. If you click on a band name on the lineup, it will play a clip. An even better way to decide your listening plans than searching for the unknown band’s MySpace pages.
You can bring in backpacks and soft sided coolers and cameras, but alcohol is banned. That is the silliest thing I’ve ever heard.
Single day tickets go for $80, which is really steep for a festival. There are no service charges, which is actually a nice touch. A three day pass will set you back $145, although you’ll probably have to resort to some kind of online scalper at this point.
It’s hard to keep things straight when there are $$$ stages and $$$ acts, so you can download all of the festival information to your iPod or Cellphone. Nice touch, ACL.
You can have a little pre-festival fun with The Sound and the Jury, which is an American Idol-esque contest where one band will earn the honor of playing the festival. You can enter your band or vote online on the Sound and the Jury website.
