Boingo Wireless LIVE Baseball Playoff Games
Boingo Wireless is coming to the rescue of those of you who are appalled by the prospect of missing the Major League Baseball playoffs because you’re stuck in some random airport somewhere. For those of you who don’t know, Boingo is a company that offers wi-fi connectivity in various airports throughout the world. The company is now providing customers with a special offer to watch “select” live playoff games in participating airports. How are they making this happen? They’re working with TBS, the television broadcaster who has the rights to the Division Series and ALCS.
There are 23 airports in on this deal, listed below. If you’re a Boingo customer and you’re stuck in one of them during game time, you can purchase a special four hour “Airport Edition” pass for MLB.TV to watch every Division Series and American League Championship Series game on TBS live without blackout restrictions and on-demand. That’s a pretty sweet deal. If you’d prefer to watch a golden oldie, you can also use the pass to watch any regular season or postseason game from the MLB.com archives on-demand. What does this set you back? A four hour pass is a measly $4.00. That’s WAY cheaper than trying to catch the game at some airport sports bar where a single beer is more in the neighborhood of $6.00.
“We are always looking for ways to make the Boingo Wi-Fi experience more enjoyable to our customers,” said Dawn Callahan, vice president of marketing for Boingo Wireless. “Working with MLBAM to bring live video streaming showcases both our commitment to bringing the best of entertainment and sports to our customers, as well as our speedy and reliable Wi-Fi networks in airports.”
The special offer is available exclusively to Boingo customers only when they access their subscription in a participating airport. When a customer logs in or purchases Wi-Fi access via Boingo, the MLB.TV special “Airport Edition” offer will be presented and airport passengers will be able to watch any Division Series or American League Championship Series game live without blackout restrictions.
Participating airports include: ATL (Atlanta), AZO (Kalamazoo/Battle Creek), BNA (Nashville), BWI (Baltimore/Washington International), DCA (Washington National Airport), DTW (Detroit), EWR (Newark Liberty), HOU (Houston Hobby), IAD ( Washington Dulles), IAH (Houston Intercontinental), JFK (New York), LGA (LaGuardia Airport), MDW (Chicago Midway), MEM (Memphis), MKE (Milwaukee), MSP (Minneapolis-St. Paul), OKC (Oklahoma City), ORD (Chicago O’Hare), SDF (Louisville), SJU (San Juan, Puerto Rico), SLC (Salt Lake City), YYZ (Toronto) and YOW (Ottawa, Canada)
