Capital One – Newsweek American Life Photo Contest
Capital One allows card holders to personalize their credit cards with their own image. They have just teamed up with Newsweek to introduce the Capital One – Newsweek American Life Photo Contest. The object of the contest is to seek images relevant to the everyday moments in America, such as landscapes, landmarks and even your family pet.
Photographers can submit their works until January 5, 2009 either on the official contest webpage or by joining the photo contest group on Flickr .
Newsweek’s Director of Photography, Simon Barnett, will judge all entries based on originality, creativity, overall photo composition, and, of course, being appropriate to “American Life” theme.
The Capital One consumers can vote online between January 6 and February 6, 2009. There will be 50 semi-finalists chosen and based on the public voting Simon will determine one grand prize winner and two runners up.
The Grand Prize is $7,000 and the photographer will have her/his photo displayed as a featured image on the Capital One’s Image Card site. Also, the grand prize winner gets a trip to New York City for a private photo tutorial at Newsweek, a portfolio review and a tour of Newsweek’s Photo Department.
The first and second runners-up get only money prizes ($6,000 and $5,000 respectively) and all photos will be displayed as featured images on the Capital One’s Image Card site.
Our lives are best captured in photos and Capital One together with Newsweek offers the possibility for any American photographer to prove that they’ve got what it takes to showcase the American Life.
