Cleveland/Akron-Canton Airport Pack Your Bags Party

On September 28, 2007, the Cleveland/Akron Airport will host its first ever “Pack Your Bags” party. If you get your rocks off by hanging out at the airport even more than you have to, this is the party for you.

The winner and a guest will receive a trip to one of the following destinations: Boston, Denver, Las Vegas, New York, Orlando or Tampa. or one of six other nonstop destinations. How do you win? Not by skill or knowledge but by a random drawing. When is your trip? That night. My question is how one would pack to cover a potential trip to either Denver or Florida at the end of September? Good luck with that.

In addition to round trip airfare on AirTran airways, the winner will receive overnight accommodations for two (Friday and Saturday nights, return trip on Sunday) compliments of Cool Cleveland, Akron-Canton Airport and AirTran Airways.

The par-tay begins at 5:30 p.m. with an open bar (beer and wine) and delectable hors d’oeuvres prepared to perfection: Salmon Pinwheels, Cajun Chicken Puffs, New England Crab Cakes, Stuffed Mushrooms with Goat Cheese Crust, Zucchini Napoleon and Steak and Portabello Satays, all provided by the 356th Fighter Group Restaurant & Banquet Center. Open bar!! Now they have my attention. Too bad I wont be anywhere near Cleveland that night.

Even if you don’t win the trip, the festivities continue with a concert by de SoL, a bilingual-flavored, Jersey-based Latin rock band, in the airport museum hangar, MAPS (Military Aviation Preservation Society) at 7:30 p.m., surrounded by awesome WWII fighter
planes. The band is provided by 91.3FM The Summit, Akron-Canton’s classic rock/pop/acoustic/alternative radio station.

You even have a D.D. for when you lose the contest, but win with the free booze. The complimentary Cool Cleveland bus will depart from the Mallorca Restaurant on West 9th Street. The bus departs Cleveland for Akron at 4:30 p.m., returning after the concert. You can park near the Mallorca Restaurant on West 9th and look for the Rockin’ Cleveland bus.
