Continental Airlines International Restaurant Week in NYC

Cooking with EgorContinental Airlines recently announced the launch of Continental International Restaurant Week in New York from April 30 to May 6, 2007. It sounds FANTASTIC! That coincides with Tribeca, among other things. The airline has paired with Zagat Survey’s to feature 8 of Zagat’s top rated restaurants for the promotion.

Each participating restaurant represents an international destinatios known for its exquisite cuisine and is providing exclusive offers ranging from special tasting menus to personalized chef recommendations to priority reservations:

  • Tabla (India): Indulge in a special tasting menu featuring some of the finest dishes at Tabla. Talk with Chef Floyd Cardoz or the General Manager about the dining philosophy at Tabla. Receive a signed copy of Chef Cardoz’s “One Spice. Two Spice.” cookbook. Mmmm.

  • Porcao Churrascuria (Brazil): Learn how to make a traditional Brazilian Capirinha (a yummy drink) and enjoy a complimentary Capirinha tasting (Passion Fruit, Strawberry, Lime, Coconut). Go behind the scenes and experience the inner workings of the kitchen with nightly kitchen tours. Guests on the first night of Continental International Restaurant Week will receive a complimentary Capirinha kit to bring a taste of Brazil home. Score!

  • Megu (Japan): As a guest during Continental International Restaurant Week, you’ll receive priority reservations and VIP preferred seating. Enjoy a complimentary flight of wine and special tastings. Chat with the chef and sommelier.

  • Chin Chin (China): Enjoy a complimentary house specialty lychee martini to start, followed by a traditional Chinese family style Prix Fixe meal created especially for your table. Each Continental International Restaurant Week guest will take home a taste of China with a booklet of traditional Chinese recipes.

  • Aquavit (Sweden): Chef Marcus Samuelson will create a special Prix Fixe menu that will include three courses and wine pairings. All Continental International Restaurant Week guests will receive a signed copy of the Aquavit cookbook.

  • Daniel (France): Enjoy exclusive access to Daniel Boulud’s Skybox Chef’s table and the taste of France with a private dining experience for four.

  • Scalini Fedeli (Italy): Enjoy a taste of Italy. In addition to his traditional three course dinner, the chef will add two special courses for guests of Continental International Restaurant Week. He will personally recommend wine pairings for the meal and discuss his philosophy with each table.

  • Urena (Spain): Learn to cook the traditional Spanish way. Join Chef Alex Urena in the kitchen as he prepares your dinner. Guests of Continental International Restaurant Week will also receive a gift basket of unique Spanish food items.

A special Zagat Survey 2007 International Destinations Guide will be distributed during Continental International Restaurant Week at participating restaurants. In addition to featuring reviews of the restaurants included in the offer, the guide will include other Zagat-rated restaurants and hotels in the eight aforementioned countries.
