Cycling is the New Golf for Business People?
I was very interested to read a press release from Market Wire that claims cycling is the new golf for business people. I’m not much of a golfer, but I’m pretty sure I can still ride a bike. Not 100%, but pretty confident. Granted the release was put out by a company that does cycling trips, but I think they might be on to something. Here it is in its entirety:
The next time you’re looking to land that next big account, entertain clients, or customize a retreat for your staff, you may want to consider jumping on a bike, rather than a charge up the back nine.
Trek Travel, started by Trek Bicycle Corporation in 2002 and known for providing their guests with amazing bike vacations around the globe, is seeing a dynamic shift in the industry of customized cycling packages. What began as exotic excursions to unique locations for cycling-passionate adventurers has now become the newest way of doing business for organizations and professionals around the globe. Where as standard business deals were once conducted on the golf course, relationships are now being built while pedaling through some of the most beautiful locations the world has to offer.
And Trek Travel took notice.
The company adapted to the change in the industry by developing customized business trips that include teambuilding packages, continuing medical and legal education trips, incentive trips, and organizational meeting trips that combine the pleasure and beauty of exotic cycling experiences, with a setting and atmosphere that is conducive to successful business development. And with Trek Travel as a guide, the options available to professionals are endless. Companies can schedule staff retreats in the beauty of France and Bordeaux, discuss projections and yearly goals in mountains of New Zealand, or sign that next big contract while speeding through the streets of London on a custom bike tour.
“We saw the opportunity to bring cycling even more to the forefront, not just with our leisure guests, but with our executive partners as well,” says Mike Meholic, Sales Manager for Trek Travel. “Professionals are looking for new ways of developing their businesses and are seeing the numerous benefits of what we have to offer: beautiful meeting venues, customized cycling experiences and the opportunity to step outside the norm of how they conduct everyday business.”
Trek Travel LLC began in 2002 as a subsidiary of Trek Bicycle Corporation offering cycling vacations across North American and Europe. Trek Travel offers bike vacations in 30 destinations across 11 countries around the globe, including trips to all three European Grand Tours cycling races and the Tour of California.
