Fan with a Plan is a website sponsored by Visa that provides information on major sporting events around the world, as well as information on a very limited number of destinations. If you’re looking for information on the 2008 Rugby World Cup or the 2008 Olympics, this site will be great for you. The events covered, unfortunately, are very limited. I always look for something fun to do during my free time on business trips, so when I heard about the site I was hoping for a more comprehensive listing. Soccer, or “football,” will be excited to hear the website will soon expand to include a section on the sport.

The website does provide some great value, though. Fan with a Plan offers a currency converter, as well as an ATM locater. Trust me, you don’t want to use the wrong type of ATM in a foreign country. I recently used a MasterCard (Cirrus) ATM in Costa Rica and was charged a pretty hefty surcharge because I was using a Visa.

The best part of this website is the Special Offers section. This section will give you information on discounts available to Visa card users in the covered destinations. For example, if you purchase entertainment tickets at Tickets Tonight, located in Tourism Vancouver’s Touristinfo Centre, you will receive parking tokens when you pay with your Visa card. So, free parking just for using your Visa.
