Loews Regency Business Center Installs Powermat Technology
The Loews Regency Hotel in New York will be the first hotel to install Powermat technology in its business center. I know what you’re thinking. What the hell is Powermat technology and what do I care? Well, Powermat technology is “an innovative new method for transmitting wireless electrical power.” That means it provides cordless electrical power to electronic devices, including laptops, cell phones, PDAs, and so forth without the need to access multiple electrical outlets or docking stations.
Powermat will design and construct a complete wireless solution for the hotels business center based on its innovative technology. The project will include the installation of portable computers and other electronic devices, which will be operated freely using Powermat solutions.
Utilizing principles of magnetic induction, Powermat’s integrated solution transmits electrical power via an ultra thin mat embedded in, or overlaid on, a work surface or wall to electronic devices placed randomly on the power mat. Powermat enables an individual to travel without a charger and draw power to operate electronic devices so that batteries are never exhausted and wires are obsolete.
How freakin’ cool is that? No more cords?! What a godsend. I wouldn’t have to carry a charger to plug in my stupid RAZR every single day when the battery dies.
“Besides being able to offer business travelers an easier way to charge laptops, cell phones and PDAs, Powermat enhances the aesthetics of its surroundings by eliminating unsightly plugs and wires,” said Ran Poliakine, founder of Powermat. “We are delighted to be able to debut in such an important and luxurious setting.”
I LOVE IT!!
