Lufthansa

Lufthansa is a German airline with comprehensive service between quite a few U.S. cities and the motherland. With the new Open Skies agreement, I suspect we’ll be seeing even more of the carrier in the states. Lufthansa offer the Miles & More program to frequent travelers.

Miles earned can be redeemed for flight, upgrade, travel, experience or other awards. Unfortunately, miles remain valid for only 36 months after the date they were earned, expiring at the end of the quarter concerned. Yuck! However, if you’re a “Frequent Traveller,” “Senator” or a “HON Circle” member, you can keep your miles as long as you keep your status. In addition, members who have a Lufthansa Miles & More credit card issued in Germany, Austria, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Croatia, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, the UK and the USA. Restrictions on that deal do apply.
