My Old Friend Insomnia: I Heart Lunesta
I’m an insomniac from way back. I can’t really remember a time when I could go to sleep at a normal time and stay that way all through the night. Loads of people have this problem while sleeping in their own beds, and I suspect many more have this problem while on the road.
What do I suggest? Lunesta. It is the insomniac’s best friend. You will need a doctor’s prescription, which is usually given for a 30 day supply. Lunesta is made for long-term use, so you don’t have to worry about getting the DT’s if you use it for more than 10 days.
They tell you to make sure you have 8 hours to sleep when taking this medication. They really mean that. I take the lowest dose possible (at a whopping 3 mg) and I probably need 9 hours. If I get to bed late, I don’t take it. If you have some drinks, don’t take it.
They also call it “fast acting.” They mean that too. I can’t take my Lunesta and then take a shower without getting loopy halfway through the shower. Not a good way to shave your legs, you can imagine.
I’m pretty medicine resistant. By that I mean I don’t like to take anything, even an aspirin. But this is great stuff. You don’t even feel groggy in the morning.
