New York Waterway Ferry Accepts Commuter Check
The New York Waterway Ferry is now accepting Commuter Check vouchers from Accor Services USA, a leader in innovative employee benefits solutions. Commuters can redeem Commuter Check vouchers to pay for NY Waterway commuter ferry tickets at all NY Waterway and BillyBey Ferry Company terminals in New Jersey and New York.
What is Commuter Check? Commuter Check is a nationwide transit and parking voucher program offered by Accor Services USA. The Commuter Check program allows companies to take advantage of the Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefit, also known as IRS Code Section 132(f), which allows employees to contribute funds pre-tax to be used on their commute. Nationwide, more than 10,000 employers offer Commuter Check to over 250,000 employees as part of overall compensation packages. Accor Services USA’s mission is to provide administration and program development services supporting public and private efforts to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and promote use of public transportation.
More than 15,000 people rely on NY Waterway to commute between New Jersey and Manhattan each day. As employers in New York City increasingly offer transit benefits, it is important for the vouchers to be redeemable for all types of public transportation. Commuter Check vouchers launched in NYC in December 2006 and are now accepted at retail outlets including Hudson News, Pay-O-Matic and Metro News to pay for MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad, PATH, NJTRANSIT, MTA NYC Transit MetroCard, NY Waterway and parking.
