Philadelphia Ghost Tour

Should your business travels take you to Philly in the next few weeks, you’re in for some fun. It’s time to get in to the Halloween spirit, and The Spirits of ’76 Ghost Tour in Philadelphia is one great way to do it. This ghoulish tour is “one part history, two parts haunt,” and sounds like two parts fun. Between now and Halloween night, you can take the Spirits of ’76 any night of the week.

Guests are treated to more than 15 scary sites to hear Philadelphia’s haunted facts and folklore. Oooohhhhh! Walk the cobblestone streets of the Old City (and try not to fall down) while listening to ghost stories about the Spirits of ’76, featuring the following:

• Haunted Facts: Hear factoids about Mr. Edgar Allan Poe, who used to reside in Philadelphia and learn about Leo Callahan, the only prisoner to escape from Eastern State Penitentiary and never be re-captured. Great source for future trivia games.
• Haunted Folklore: Learn about the legendary ghosts that inhabit Independence Hall, the spirits of Carpenters’ Hall, the dancing statue of Benjamin Franklin at Library Hall and paranormal Pine Street happenings. I would LOVE to see a statue of Ben getting down!
• Haunted Movie Sets: See famous film locations from big screen thrillers such as Shooter and National Treasure. Okay, that part sounds a little lame.

  “Taking the Spirits of ’76 Ghost Tour is a great way to experience Haunted Philadelphia.   From now through October 31, 2007, the Spirits of ’76 Ghost Tour will offer tours every night at 7:30 PM, departing from inside the Lobby of the Omni Hotel at 401 Chestnut Street. In addition, on certain dates tours will also be offered at 6:00 PM and 9:30 PM. Tickets cost $17.50 for adults and $12.50 for children (yes, you may be stuck with a group o’ screaming brats on your tour). Advance reservations are recommended.
