Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County Airport Glass Exhibit
The Pittsburgh Allegheny County Airport Authority has partnered with the Pittsburgh Glass Center www.pittsburghglasscenter.org to offer a new airport exhibit. The Glass Center is a nonprofit, public access studio and gallery in the Steel City.
The exhibit consists of two mosaics, created by Pittsburgh artist Daviea Davis, and measuring in at a whopping 4′ x 13.’ One mosaic memorializes old Pittsburgh, while the second depitcts the new city. Look for them on opposing walls at the Landside People Mover Trains. People Mover Trains? Hehe.
The glass used in the mosaics is recycled glass donated by Youghiogheny Glass located in Connellsville, PA. So it’s public art that’s good for the environment.
