* Review: Ahh, the River House… Casa Rio, established in 1946, is the oldest restaurant on the world famous San Antonio Riverwalk. If you have some time to kill (the wait for a table is an hour to an hour and a half on Saturday night) it’s a wonderful option. Don’t worry, there is a full bar where you can catch a buzz while you wait on your table. Customers have the option to sit right along side the San Antonio River under brightly colored umbrellas or in the spacious dining area and watch the tour boats pass by. Or in my case, you get to sit next to a teenage drama queen who was apparently very angry at her boyfriend. Silly girl. Anyway, who wants to sit inside when it’s a perfect 76 degrees in San Antonio? I had the steak quesadilla and a few of the house margaritas. I know that’s about the least adventurous Tex-Mex meal one can have, but it was recommended by our waiter. The house margaritas were a bargain at $5.00 a pop. The quesadilla was pretty good as well. It was much more affordable than I would expect a restaurant in such a touristy area to be.
