* Review: I scored some great tamales at Las Margaritas for lunch yesterday. And I’m pretty finicky about my tamales. Las Tamales was out of Tamales de Pollo, so I had the shredded beef. I think I’m glad they didn’t have my first choice. Those beef filled treats were yummy! They were $12, which is awefully steep for Mexican food, but I think they were worth every penny. If I didn’t recently move to a place where my Mexican food diet is severely restricted (New Jersey), I don’t know that I would have wanted to pay so much. Las Margaritas is located near the Fishermans Wharf on the bay. It’s a pretty touristy area with lots to see and do, so not a bad place to spend a free afternoon or evening if you’re in the San Francisco area. The bar was extensive and they had a small patio overlooking a central courtyard. The patio is off the street, so you don’t have to listen to all of the car and foot traffic. There may or may not be a live band playing in the courtyard while you dine. Definitely a good spot for Mexican.
