* Review: Tony’s is SUCH a Jersey restaurant. What do I mean by that? I mean I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Tony Soprano sit down at the next table. It’s just that Jersey. I LOVED it, what a great place to people watch. Tony’s is in the Ironbound section of Newark. This is a perfectly safe place for visitors to go, so no worries about getting out of the hotel. There is a parking lot right across the street, so you don’t even have to walk. The Clams Casino on the appetizer menu are the best thing to come out of a shell since the pearl. I don’t even like clams, but these were FABULOUS. For drinks, do yourself a favor and get the red sangria. It’s the best sangria I’ve had since I left Salamanca, although I’d like to continue to research that topic (once my head stops pounding). It’s a classy place and you’ll hear more English than Portuguese, which is unusual in this neighborhood.
