San Antonio, Texas
I recently made my way to the great river city of San Antonio, Texas for work and fell in love with the place. San Antonio is a city of a little over a million souls in southwest Texas, about halfway between Houston and the Mexican border.
San Antonio has long been a popular destination for tourists because of its various offerings and great weather. For a city of its size, San Antonio has LOADS to do. For jogging or dining out, head to the River Walk, where restaurants line the shores of the San Antonio River. I can personally recommend the Casa Rio for Tex-Mex on the shore and margaritas. Another great option is the Market Square, which is very near many of the popular hotels for business people, including the Holiday Inn Select.
San Antonio is easy to navigate and offers both buses and a trolley system for public transportation. You can easy walk anyplace downtown, though the locals promote the trolley pretty heavily. If you aren’t in to walking or public transportation, there is an abundance of public parking available.
Sightseeing may be difficult for business travelers, as many of the attractions close early. Really, as small as the city is you can easily take in a tour on your lunch break or between meetings. The Alamo, the most famous destination in this part of Texas, is right downtown.
