San Antonio, Texas Trolley System
San Antonio, Texas sure is proud of its trolley system. And they should be. It’s a great system, as far as trolleys go. But the clincher for me is that I lack patients. The city of San Antonio is pretty well planned and SUPER easy to navigate. That being said, you can often walk to your destination of choice in less time than it would take you to wait for the next trolley.
On a recent trip, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Market Square near the (you guessed it) Market Square. We waited about 20 minutes for a ride to the Riverwalk, as we were told it is 10 LONG blocks to get there. Once we boarded the trolley, we stopped approximately 8 times on the way. After dinner at the Casa Rio, we footed it back to the hotel. The walk was less than 20 minutes. The following day, I walked to the Alamo and back. Also a piece of cake.
If your feet hurt or you just want the novelty of taking a trolley, go for it. If you’re just trying to get from Point A to Point B, I would beat the sidewalks.
