SAS New Business Class Sleeper and Upgraded Economy Extra
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has introduced new Business Sleeper seats on its fleet of Airbus A340 and A330 aircraft, used on non-stop service from New York (EWR), Chicago, Seattle and Washington, D.C. to Copenhagen and Stockholm.
The new seats provide 61 inches of legroom, recline to 170 degrees and are 20 inches wide between the armrests (slightly wider when folded down into a bed). In addition, the seats contain a built-in storage bin large enough for a laptop computer. The new personal television is 10.4 inches and includes audio and video on demand. SAS offers a total of 46 business class seats on the A340-300s and 34 on the A330-300s.
SAS also has upgraded Economy Extra, its premium economy service, starting on the ground with check-in at the Business Class counter and access to Fast Lane security (where available). Economy Extra passengers are provided a separate cabin with 35 seats in the A330s and 28 seats in the A340s. The Economy Extra seat pitch is 38 inches and the seat is more than 18 inches wide between the armrests. Each seat has a power outlet for laptop computers. Economy Extra passengers also have access to the new in-flight entertainment system with individual video screens and audio and video on demand.
