United Airlines offers Westin Products
United Airlines, the same company that is currently laying off 1,500 flight attendants and [I believe] charging passengers for meals on international flights, is sprucing things up in first class with Westin Heavenly Bed products. To hell with all of those peoples jobs, if you’re traveling first class or business class p.s. service you’ll be super comfortable. This is the first time in the history of aviation that an airline and a hotel chain have teamed up to offer hotel branded amenities. I’m sure all of those unemployed airline workers are glad the business people will be comfortable.
What’s this all about? United Airline’s first and business class p.s. service between New York and
California will now offer custom oversized Heavenly blankets and pillows inspired by the Westin iconic Heavenly Bed. Passengers will also score towlettes in the signature Westin White Tea scent (very yummy), mints and custom video and music on their very own personal media player. Westin worked with a company called Blue Marvel to create videos showing off nature scenes from around the globe. For your listening pleasure, you can tune in to custom play lists featuring the tunes from Westin Hotel lobbies.
On the ground, the two recently launched Westin Renewal Lounges inside Red Carpet Clubs in JFK, LAX and San Francisco. These lounges offer some innovative things, like the revolutionary blue-light ActiViva lamp in the San Francisco lounge offered by Philips Lighting that provides phototherapy and “directly affects the way people feel by making them more alert, awake and energized.” Trippy. The lounges were designed by Westin’s team and offers the total Westin experience from the furniture to the color shceme. Just for the busy travelers, Westin’s people desinged an upholstered ottoman with a built-in table (for displaying custom botanicals or books) and a day bed for resting.
The most fun part of the deal is the seasonal signature drinks. Passengers will be treated to a specialty cocktail inspired by the groundbreaking Westin SuperFoods program. If you aren’t a boozer, you can sample the seasonal non-alcoholic SuperFoods elixir in the lounges. to be served in the lounges, and will introduce a new elixir each season.
If you love it so much you want to take it home with you, you can order all sorts of things from the Heavenly product line from the seatback catalog. Those of you who order can even score a special free-robe offer available to United passengers only.
When traveling across the country, our first and business class customers expect to feel relaxed and rewarded when they are at the airport and on the airplane,” says Graham Atkinson, United Airlines’ executive vice president and Chief Customer Officer. “Refreshing drinks, a calming environment and a Heavenly pillow and blanket will ensure United’s customers are reinvigorated for wherever their travels may bring them.”
Miles collectors will also win big with 1,000 bonus Mileage Plus miles earned for booking at select Westin Properties.
